An audiobook made with a natural AI voice is quick to make, but not every store takes one. The rules differ by store and change often. This is a summary as of late 2026. Always read the store's own page before you upload.

Audible and ACX

As of its 2026 requirements, Audible's self-publishing service asks for human narration unless it has authorized otherwise, so an audiobook made by an AI voice is not accepted there.

Amazon's own AI narration

Amazon has offered its own AI-narrated audiobooks to some KDP authors, by invitation. You cannot upload audio you made elsewhere into that program.

Google Play Books and Spotify

Both have said they accept audiobooks voiced by AI, with a setting or checkbox that says so. Their terms and which tools they accept differ, so read them first.

Other stores and distributors

Some distributors accept AI narration only from named tools, and some only as an unchanged package from that tool. Ask the distributor before you pay anyone.

Your own site, your family and your library

You can always sell or give away the files yourself, play them for family, or share them with readers who like to listen.

Tell listeners the truth

Whatever store you use, label an AI voice as an AI voice.

What EditPublishSell gives you

MP3 files, one for each chapter, in a voice you pick. Whether a store takes them is the store's decision, so we tell you the rules we know and point you to the store.
